    Customer Reviews

    Turns to ash in seconds
It's incomprehensible to find natural charcoal nowadays. We need it mostly for the hooka and sometime BBQ. The Original Charcoal was much better than this. We will keep irritating different kinds to find the right one.

Clorox Pens a College Survival Guide That is More 'What To Wear ...

The Clorox company, best known for its namesake bleach, is doling out instructions to college students beyond those on the back labels of its products.

The company recently put out a free, online “College Survival Guide,” advising incoming undergraduates how to adjust to campus life. The guide offers tips on everything from study and sleep habits to accessory and clothing choices — telling students what to wear, but, surprisingly, not how to wash it.

There is a national edition of the guide along with four regional versions specific to the Midwest , Northeast , South and West . The guides, developed with “the help of moms and students,” seek to be at once edgy and practical.

There is advice on creating the appearance of an ordered room (“Don’t have time to make the bed? Pull up your comforter!”); managing workloads (“Set “study hours” for yourself to make sure you get to your work.”); and staying safe (“Don’t walk home at night by yourself.”)

On the guide’s “must haves” checklist are bed sheets (with the critical twin extra-long specification), “fun decorations,” a shower caddy, corkboard and mini-fridge. There are also two prominently promoted company products: Clorox disinfecting wipes and a Brita water filter, whose place under the Clorox umbrella is more discreet.

But beyond so-called necessities, the regional editions indulge in some recommendations that many readers could find superfluous, and that play heavily into geographic stereotypes.

For example, to students attending college in the South, Clorox recommends “faux pearls,” “anything madras” or “bright and pastel” in color, along with leather flip-flops and boat shoes.

The Midwestern student is advised to pack a pea coast, moccasins, “blacks and grays” and “baggy jeans.” For students in the Northeast there are “cute flats” and cardigans, puffy vests, parkas and baseball team hats. And students headed West are directed to adopt “graphic t’s,” “oversized sunglasses,” “gold necklaces” and “trendy” hats, listed alongside a photo of a chocolate brown fedora.
