Fresh Start: 12 Days of New Beginnings [Day 6: Home] | Get ...
I updated my wardrobe planner today, something I do 2 or 3 times a year or if I am particularly pleased with a purchase. I also added a new column (it is in Excel) so that each category eg accessories can be subdivided eg into belts, purses and bags. It adds up how much I spent (by year), how much is in good nick, and would be indispensable if I had a fire and had to claim for the value of my wardrobe contents.
But I like it because it remembers all the things I forgot I had.
I have enjoyed the 12 days program thus far! I have *gotten back to going to the gym, *given up chips at night (although I splurged last night-oops), *am trying to add scrapbooking back into my schedule-either reading about or doing for the sake of the schedule, *gotten back to my blog-if only writing down topic headings so I can update this weekend, and the *career/business topic I’m still praying about. Not sure what I will do about that yet. I am a substitute teacher (the day I got the blog’s update about business, I accepted a three day long assignment for the future but that’s it…) Thank you for your tips!

3 Kids + 1 Husband + Blog + House + Dog + Me = Time to get Organized
Stay-at-home mom who left her job in the fashion industry in NYC to raise 3 wonderful girls, but never lost the passion for fashion. My husband and I were lucky enough to move to a small town that has an amazing downtown that offers a big city lifestyle. I will highlight here where to find the latest trends, great gift ideas, and delicious food and drink! All the THINGS I LOVE about downtown Saratoga Springs. Enjoy!

Living my happy ever after in the North Georgia Mountains area with my wonderful hubby and two pretty cool kids * I play all day and call it work. * I have two passions I'm equally obsessed with ... Designing and creating pretty accessories and soft home furnishings for my Mama's Pocketbook online boutique and my new role as Co-Founder of Jason's Place with Jason Mesnick (yes, "The Bachelor") * Is one Southern girl allowed to have this much fun? I hope so, because I have many more passions to explore!! Enjoy ~ Dianne
Please join us for shopping with a twist on Friday August 28, 2009 as we present "Getting Organized"
Getting Organized has taken on a new look! From being strictly functional to being functional and stylish has become the latest and greatest way of getting and staying organized. Pretty and stylish organization means that you no longer have to hide everything away in back room closets and filing cabinets. Instead, old locker baskets painted pink and stylishly chic organizers help you get organized in creative ways. Storage boxes filled with odds and ends, office supplies or ribbons and trims can fit into the décor in any room. A repurposed basket or box can beautifully organize your odds and ends while keeping them out of the way. A vintage metal file box hand painted with pink roses keeps your papers safe while adding romantic charm. Elegant
wooden boxes painted with flowers store photos, CDs and letters in plain view.A vintage china plate might hold a stack of favorite napkins on a table or open shelf. A pretty pink basket can store clean dishtowels by the kitchen sink. A white wicker basket keeps guest towels or magazines, or perhaps organizes your craft space. Vintage nursery jars can hold cotton balls and other necessities while a refinished side table can keep your address book and notepaper handy.
How do you girls keep your accessories organized?
Q: i have all my belts and jewelry pinned on a black board that's hung on my wall but it's getting a little annoying now.......is there an easier way where it's real easy to take your accessories out?
A: Well, I've got my stuff in trays and boxes. you can get plastic trays from Target or Walmart or something and small boxes too. line them with tissues then lay out your jewelry. Make one box for earrings, one for bracelets and so on. If you have a lot of jewelry that could get scratched, as I do, use Ziploc sandwich bags - put the jewelry piece in the ziploc bag then put it in the tray/box. I find this better than wrapping in tissue because I don't have to unwrap it to see which item I need to use. Roll the belts and use plastic ties to keep them in place. twist the ties loosely so the belts don't get marked. stack them in a drawer or box.
This is a really economic way to organise your accessories so you can spend money on accessories and not on pretty things to keep them in.
How to organize accessories [hairbands/necklaces/etc]?
Q: I don't want to throw them into bins or anything like that because they get tangled.
Any ideas?
Oh, and anything that doesn't involve buying a jewelry box thing. :]
A: I've found a lightweight wooden accordion peg rack (like this: http://www.landofnod.com/family.aspx?c=2 1&f=580 or larger) is perfect for everything but earrings... hats, headbands, necklaces, purses, scarves, belts.
Lillian Vernon had a HUGE accordion peg rack that stretched up to mebbe 10' w/ 80-100 pegs on it... I bought it years ago and mounted it floor to almost-ceiling in my walk-in closet and it's absolutely crammed with accessories that're both visible and stay put. :-)
Hope this helps,
TX Griff
How do you keep little girls' bows and barrettes organized?
Q: I have put them in plastic baggies by color, which works better than my original method of just throwing them in a drawer. :) I still think there's probably a better way. How do you have your children's hair accessories organized?
A: I actually went to the hardware department and bought one of those organizers that I guess guys use to keep screws and bolts and stuff like that in...They have little drawers or cubbies that are clear and are the perfect size for jewelry or hair ties..
