Product Description
Inspired by Lido Strand in Italy, the design of this gorgeous new champagne cooler from Riedel is reminiscent of gentle rolling waves on the sea, and can also be interpreted as a shot shaped vessel. Made of fine lead crystal, this piece will be elegant in any setting; partially-filled with ice, chilling your favorite bottle of bubbly.
Created by Austrian conniver Daniela Behr exclusively for Riedel, the Lido champagne cooler looks as if it might have tumbled up from the Adriatic Sea onto its namesake Venetian lido. This 24-percent lead crystal showpiece is shaped like a magnificent seashell with thick scalloped sides modestly opening to hold a favorite nose-tickler and icy bath within. Riedel's first-ever champagne cooler, Lido is a narrow edition that will surely hold a special place in a wine enthusiast's collection. Not serving champagne tonight? The alluring form also makes a stunning centerpiece with fresh flowers or left unfilled to showcase the sparkler's luminescent sparkle and glow. It measures 8-7/8 inches high by 12-1/2 inches fully. Hand washing is recommended. --Kara Karll

Product Description
This marvy Flamingo decanter by Riedel, its elegant lines perfectly inspired by its tropical feathered namesake, features gob-blown, handmade elegance and a punt in the base to hold steady while you pour. The crave, graceful neck is a stunning visual sensation and the pour spout at the top is designed for drizzle-resistance. Made of fine lead crystal for added brilliance, this Flamingo decanter stands 23-5/8 inches large.
Easy, clean lines transcend into the realm of skillful artistic expression in Riedel's luxurious Flamingo flask. Perched on a dining table or sideboard, this statuesque piece rises a dramatic 23-5/8 inches overdone and showcases an angle-cut rim topped by a beaked pour spout, a spectacularly long neck, and an wide-ranging bulb-shaped bowl. An extra-deep punt improves aeration to introduce each wine to its fullest potential and provides a secure (though almost implausible-looking!) pouring handle. Mouth-blown of premium 24-percent leaded crystal for radiance and comprehensibility, the decanter holds a standard-sized bottle of wine and pours flawlessly. L.A. and O.C. Foodventures: Friday Quickies #74: Kindness of ...
Well so far my dine-out diet has been going well, it's nice to cook a little more at home -- and thankfully, there were the kindness of "strangers" (a.k.a. food pr folks) who invited me to assorted events, so I was not a total recluse from the scene. Nonetheless, still fairly bummed out that I'll be missing the following fun going-ons ~ but I can already see the light (a.k.a. October) at the end of the tunnel!

Riedel Ouverture Red Wine Glasses, Set of 4
Perfect for everyday use, the four red-wine glasses in this set are part of the moderately priced Ouverture series offered by world-renowned Austrian wineglass maker Riedel Crystal (founded in 1756). Being lead-free, they're not crystal like Riedel's premium glasses but are machine blown of potash glass and are dishwasher-safe. Their thin rims are cut and polished to Riedel's exacting standards, so wine flows easily onto the tongue. Each glass holds 12-3/8 ounces and stands 7-3/8 inches high. Though glasses shaped and sized for different types of wine seem commonplace today, when Riedel introduced this idea in 1961, it was revolutionary. Since then Riedel has continued fine-tuning glasses to bring out the best characteristics in wines and spirits. Varying bowls' shapes and sizes affects the position of the head when sipping and where wine first contacts the tongue's various taste zones. --Fred Brack
