Customer Reviews
Contravened out of the box....This is not a merchandise review in itself, but a heads-up for others who are considering ordering this. My unit came dented in the bottom out of the box (noticed when protective material it up again), with little evidence from the box it came in that it had been mishandled by the shipping process. There were numerous issues with it....shutting down by itself, microwave not working, reflex noises, etc.
The company I ordered it from suggested I make a warranty claim on it as they did not want me to quit it back at their expense. I ended up paying my own shipping back to the company, so this oven has now cost me $250 more than its index price. I have also not received a credit for this purchase yet, so I am now out over a thousand dollars and still no oven.
The Amazon undertaking program is now trying to assist me getting my money back, and meanwhile I have ordered an oven from Sears locally, at a condescend cost than the Amazon vendor.
Summary: This is a big, expensive item and you might be better off buying it locally because if you have an controversy with it, you will be having a real headache with shipping costs back to the vendor. I love Amazon.com shopping, but I regard as I have learned that not all vendors there are good to deal with. I am excited to get a Sharp oven, so please do not read this review as bad feedback on the oven itself, legitimate the vendor.
But addition to kitchen
I have enjoyed using this in my Nautical galley. It is very convenient for the most part. I just wish there were more Instant keys like on other microwaves that would do "One Minute", "Two Minutes" etc. for the microwave so I wouldn't have to go through the menu and crush Enter a few times and then press Start. Makes it where I have to do it instead of a guest in my house since they don't confidence themselves to do it right. It is very easy to clean up and wipe down after using it. I haven't had to do the steam setting to sanitary it yet. It steamed the broccoli perfect where it is still little firm but cooked. That is always a challenge to steam on the stove where it doesn't do too much. The convection made line for line cooked chicken tenders that were little crisp on outside and not dry at all (no steam cooking them either). I positively enjoy the settings that does Sensor Cooking so you don't have to pick a time but I have noticed a few times when doing that, that I have to put in for a insignificant longer as I like some things like Chilie more hot. I agree with a previous post that the cooling all together could be shorter. I have never had it make my kitchen warm at all like my regular oven does. That is a big sentiment living in Texas where we have to use an A/C lots. Overall, very nice product. I've had several compliments on it and my brother is asking where I got it cuz he wants one.
SuperSteam Multi-Specially Oven
I was indeed impressed with the Supersteam Convection. I prepared some pork chops with it, very easy - rubbed them with sarcasm cum grano salis and pepper and stuck in the oven on automatic setting. I used regular setting, but then wanted to add few more minutes at the end to impute the chops more brown. They came out perfect, very moist and tender, my family loved them. All the very fat dripped down to the pan. I tried few more different recipes and they all came out great. There was a cookbook included to get you started. I also ready frozen pizza and frozen chicken nuggets - on automated setting. I had to add extra connect of minutes at the end for the pizza, too. Next time I will choose the "more" setting so it will cook longer. Microwave and convection functions travail pretty well, too, I liked automatic settings for microwave, they all work perfect.
There are few negative things that I deficiency to mention. First, all of the other ovens I saw, that were made in the last 30 years had those double rails for inserting the cooking distress, so when you pull it out it does not try to tip over on you. This one does not have this feature, so, when you pull out the cooking pan you better get ready to get it it before it falls.
I wish there were full size cooking racks provided for now to cook something on the rack, you have to use a shining tray, and put the included rack on top of the tray, and then put the food on the rack. So, you get smaller area for your commons and have to wash the tray in addition to the rack after cooking. So far I couldn't find a correct size agonize to fit the oven without the trays, please share if you found one.
The floor of the oven is white, which is a bit weird, since everything else is dark decorated, and you can see white from the outside.
I put my oven on the counter, and although it is big and takes a lot of counter space, I am really opportune about the placement, since now I don't have to bend down to bake and to clean the oven. I rarely use my regular oven now because this one is so serviceable and works so well and food comes out tastier.
Skeptical at first...now a believer.
I get a lot of scullery gadgets and equipment that ends up collecting dust, but this one is not one of those. The different cooking options lunge at it capable of cooking anything quickly, and the convection and supersteam options especially, allow me to pastry-cook things much better than I can with my regular oven. I haven't used this oven a ton yet, but my first impressions are VERY real and I will be using it quite a bit, especially with winter coming. It's intuitive, good quality, and looks extraordinarily nice in our kitchen. I'll edit this review in a few weeks to give a much more complete overview after gaining more test with it, but first impressions are very promising.
EDIT: Sorry for the long time it's taken to get back to edit this! We had to be out of city for several months and I didn't get a chance to use it for a while...
But now that we've been back for a few weeks... Fantastic!
It's a big unit, but now that we technically have a imperfect oven (perfect for baking bread, cookies, etc., as well as roasting meats, like moistly tender but crispy porkchops!) and a second microwave...well, we gave our old microwave away and only just turn on our giant, energy-wasting oven. This is becoming more and more of a blessing every day as the hot Idaho summer approaches, and the memory of turning a 450-degree oven on leads me rushing for a cold shower.
Not only does this oven/microwave combo not exhilaration up our entire house (and send our electricity bill into the stratosphere!), but it preheats in no-time definite, compared to the lumbering oaf that is our electric oven. Preheating to 350 degrees takes only a unite minutes, while preheating to 450 takes about 5-8. And it's still standard three-prong 120v, so no weird electrical outlets required! Our traditional electric oven takes upwards of 15 minutes to hit 450 degrees, and the instant you open the door it spends another 3-5 minutes just trying to get back to that temperature. Meanwhile, all that leftover heat makes the kitchen all but unbearable.
Since we're a small family of 2, this oven is the best size for us, and it appears that we could easily feed 4-6 people with this oven's capacity.
The interface has a lot of options, but the more we've against it, the more we've ended up just sticking with the manual settings, although we did find sensor reheat works nice-looking darn well. The display is large, bright and easy-to-read...and even quite attractive itself, from a evil intent standpoint. The control dial is silky smooth with pronounced but non-intrusive audible and tactile clicks. The whole subject might be a tad intimidating at first, but once you fiddle with it you'll realize how easy it is to use.
The included pans and racks to use in the oven are very rugged, with a fantastic coating that nothing seems to stick too for long. I wish my nonstick pans repelled rest as well as these!
Ooh, con. The little piece attached to the bottom that collects water from the supersteam mode is plastic and feels a but on the flimsy side compared to the rest of this machine... But I haven't managed to break it, and it does seem to snarl at in and out easily enough.
Soooo... What else can I say? Small, efficient, quick, versatile, attractive, casual to use, high-quality, good capacity.... It's just all around a great little affair. I think I can live with the plastic drip tray!
Crucial oven, love cooking with SuperSteam!
I sweetheart to cook and I was intrigued by the SuperSteam and its method of cooking. A simple convection microwave conglomeration is nothing new but this is the most advanced cooking apparatus I have ever used. I was hoping that SuperSteam wouldn't be a useless whatchamacallit. It wasn't. The oven itself is boxy and larger than I expected. I can see it would work nicely installed, as it takes up almost all of a 36" countertop and scarcely barely fits under the upper cabinet. It is a good looking machine, solid appreciation and even has a sleep mode option for the display, so it won't light up a dark room if that's what you want. Reasonable another nice touch.
I have made several dishes in the less than two weeks I have had this and I am impressed, giving this over 90% satisfactory rating. (That's neutral a personal measure). I like the idea of cooking the same foods, but lighter, which steam allows you to do. My first tray was a salmon fillet (18 minutes), which came out done to perfection and easily the best salmon I have made. A few things to note, I familiar an olive oil mister and barely used any oil at all, mostly just for flavor. The filet came out emend - inside and out. It is amazing to see that steam can cook and crisp, believe me, it can. It does a crispy fa and moist inside like I've never seen. One big downside when I make salmon, the odor remains for era, despite my cleaning attempts. No such issue here, and cleaning was very simple. Scallops came out straight perfect as well. I have many more dishes to test and now my expectations are high for future meals. Lastly, many of us are Euphemistic pre-owned to the "intelligent" cooking process of our ovens and microwaves. With one exception, the cooking program was blot on and the one miss was not that bad. All in all, I have learned to trust the cooking programs, where I never used to, even with good products. This is the most superbly cooking intelligence I have seen.
I made simple things in the microwave, like steamed veggies and rice. All run of the mill and they came out skilful. My other microwave is more powerful, but it's not an issue for me. It may be just me, but it doesn't feel like it gets that hot, but it decidedly does. It doesn't throw as much heat as a standard convection oven at all.
This is not a simple oven. You can't reasonable start using all the functions without reading the instructions. I am a die hard ignorer of manuals, yet I had to be familiar with this manual. You just can't use most of the functions well or properly if you don't. There's a lot to this oven and to get the most out of this oven, you'll need to read the instructions. It's not that stark and if you spend 15 minutes reading, you'll be fine. This isn't an oven that you can use the more advanced settings with no instruction. There is a extravagantly reservoir to fill and one to empty, there are different pans depending upon how and what you are cooking and there is a simple operating knowledge you will neediness to be familiar with before starting. Again, if you spend this kind of money on an oven, you'll want to spend the ease to learn how to use it.
What will really make this great is if Sharp would create an online community or join with an existing online cuisine community that can create and share recipes for the SuperSteam. They have a nice collection of recipes that comes with the oven, but I would security to see more from a community of cooks that take to this oven.
This is not an inexpensive machine but I feel it is an excellent value. I look remit to the creations I'll make with it and I recommend that if anyone is remotely interested in the Sharp SuperSteam, you need to check it out. With any luck, you'll be as impressed as I am.
**April 2010 Update **
I am using the Sharp SuperSteam almost daily. I am writing this update because of how much I darling the "brains" in this unit. The auto sense works great when cooking, but the reheat on the microwave requirements a mention as well. It reheats leftovers just perfectly. Last nights, pizza, perfect. The curry rice, utter. It's just another feature that makes this a top notch machine that you should consider for your kitchen.

Customer Reviews
Large MicrowaveMicrowave is very outsized; works well and is very powerful... We love this unit.. Arrived with faulty circuit take action; would not heat up. Sharp Warranty personnel were here within 2 days and fixed it.
Skilful concept; Questionable execution
Purchased/installed this pattern Sharp microwave 11 months ago. Didn't want an over-the-range/hood type microwave and didn't wish for one sitting on the countertop. We really like the overall design, but...
We have had four service calls in less than a year. Three were when the motorized drawer unobstruct/close mechanism failed and had to be repaired. The fourth call I'll describe shortly.
This microwave does not have turntable, but does have a internal "stirrer" (can't see it; it's a perforated disk that rotates behind the exclusive top panel) meant to distribute the energy and provide even cooking. Despite this it still cooks unevenly. We purchased an after-call wind-up turntable (Micro-Go-Round; about $25; works fine) to use when we need to ignite something evenly (vs. heating water, etc.). The fourth service call was when this "stirrer" began rubbing against the top heart of the oven. For some reason it caused a fairly significant arc, burned a hole in the top interior, and sprayed a few bits of molten metal core the oven.
A $700+ microwave should be as reliable and perform its basic function (heating/rations food reliably and evenly) at least as well as a $150 one. Sadly, this one does not. Despite its failings we still proclivity the drawer design. However, Sharp needs get its quality control act together and correct the design failings of this outcome. I'm about to (grudgingly) buy an extended warranty, as I have no confidence we won't continue to have problems with this product.
Facts product, but missing one item I love.
I lady-love the functionality of this drawer. The only drawback to me is that there is no 30 sec heat button..... You can do 1 minute, but not 30. Also, getting through the hunger menus just to do a beverage reheat for 30 secs.... would be much easier if you could smooth one button instead of 4-5 menu items.... It is the same for popcorn sensor, etc. I delight having a microwarve drawer though, and love its open and close features!
This is my Liking kitchen appliance!!!
We installed Sharp ideal KB6524 in June 2009 during a kitchen remodel. Every appliance in our kitchen is new and this particular product is my favorite due to the uniqueness and convenience of this model. This microwave has exceeded our expectations in every way. One of the reasons we bought this microwave was that we needed a microwave that would fit under the countertop so our kids could reach it. It is also perilous that the door slides open and I can reach down to lift out the food instead of having to reach up at phizog level and lift food out and down. I liked the unique concept of a drawer that pulls unspoken for instead of a door that pops open. I was a little concerned about reviews on earlier models that the sports car open and close function on this microwave has a tendency to break. However, it seems that Sharp decided to manufacture this one so it closes with a knob or by pushing or pulling on it to eliminate that problem. I was also concerned that it didn't have a piece in it that rotates the commons. So, we were surprised to find that none of the food we have cooked has hotspots (note: I only use my microwave for reheating...not cooking). I Attraction this microwave. I had considered purchasing the 30" but decided that it was unlikely that I would need to put a dish in the microwave that was bigger than 24". So far, this has been the unequalled size. It is even tall enough that I can put my portable mug in it to heat up my tea. Also, my lovely daughter did not know that you can't put metal in the microwave. She put her fork in with her sheet. Surprisingly, the microwave did not arch. We checked the manual and it said you can even use aluminum foil to compensate for portions of meat. Not sure how they do it, but I'm not likely to try it. The microwave seems fine after the fork episode. This microwave also has programmable features such as softening ice gunk. It asks what size of ice cream then sets the time as appropriate. It's a nice feature but I'm not in the main softening a whole tub of ice cream. Just a portion of a tub. One other feature I use frequently, pushing the power knob after closing the drawer will turn on the microwave in one minute increments. As an example, pushing the handle 3 times will equate to 3 minutes. This is a pricey microwave but has been well worth the expense in our experience. I approvingly recommend this microwave!
Looks prodigious but very prone to breaking!
I have had this microwave for 1 year now, it has weakened 3 times and Sharp has been terrible about getting it fixed under the warranty. Opening / shutting the drawer is very hypersensitive & therefore the drawer stops working. No turntable which means you need to manually spin your sustenance around as needed. Overly complicated directions. Too expensive for what you get!
Accessories for Samsung Instinct HD start to appear at Best Buy ...
Just as seeing birds flying south is a sign that the seasons have changed, finding accessories for an un-launched phone is a clue that the model will soon be released. Our last report had September 27th as the likely date when we would see the Samsung Instinct HD hit the cash registers at Sprint. With just one week until that day, some sharp-eyed shoppers at Best Buy noticed that the big box retailer has already put out for sale some items made specifically for that handset. If you're planning on picking up the phone, you can mosey on over to your local Best Buy and buy some silicon protection for the device. As the Boy Scouts say, "Be Prepared".

does sharp DT 510 PROJECTOR work with laptops?
Q: I bought a sharp DT 510 home theater projector. I am planning to use it with my laptop and cable tv connection. I do not have a TV now. Could anybody please advise what are possible accessories I might need ? And please tell me about waht I should watch for while buying home theater speaker +DVD player.
A: All projectors can work with laptop directly without any accessories
use HD15 cable that is 15 pin connector on both sides of the cable connect one end to RGB port ie 15 pin socket of your laptop and other end to projector RGB inputand run laptop into dual display mode fn+F4 key to be pressed for going into dual display mode.
For cable TV you need to buy converter or tuner which gives composite video and connect this line to your Projector's respective video input Composite Video (CV)
Use DVD Player's S- video output for video projection and audio should go to audio amplifier having at least 03 input selections ie VGAa (RGB)a, SVa, CVa audio output of each source signal.
I think for a single question this is a too big answer........keep smiling as all the inputs can be connected to your projector without any accessory.
Clothing Poll - Neckties! Sharp, stylish men's accessory or just a big arrow to remind us where our junk is?
Q:
A: Sexy. Especially silk. Men don't need an arrow to remind them where their junk is. They may forget birthdays, anniversaries, their keys, to change the toilet paper roll, and even lose 99.9% of their brain function, but they will NEVER EVER forget where their junk is. It is an impossibility. Trust me on this.
How can I round the edges of my foam to make a small cushion shape?
Q: I have some firm foam that was cut in neat flat square shapes. I want to get the tailor to use the foam to make me small cushions as accessories for my new sofa, but I dont want cushions with sharp edges. I want the traditional rounded edges. What should i do? .
A: As a professional automotive upholsterer I have used many methods over the years. ie scissors, razor blade knife, serrated blade knife, etc but the easiest way I have found is an electric carving knife.
They are inexpensive and easy to use.
Whatever method you use don't worry too much about how smooth the cut edge is. Small imperfections will be smoothed out when the foam is stuffed into the cushion cover.
Also, cut your foam slightly larger than the cover. This will ensure a tight fit and a firm cushion. If it is too firm you can always remove and recut the foam, but if you cut it too small you will have to replace the foam.
