Prepared with a heater for boosting performance, this upright machine deep-cleans carpets and rugs by forcing a sincere solution of water and cleansing concentrate into fibers and vacuuming up the dirty solution. The 1440-watt implement also scrubs bare floors (but not hardwood floors) and cleans stairs, upholstery, sedan interiors, and even mattresses with onboard tools that spray dirty surfaces and crevices with the organization solution. A powered hand-tool that either brushes or vacuums at the flick of a switch accompanies the gang and attaches to a flexible accessories hose. The heater's advantage over ordinary machines is that it increases the maintenance solution's temperature (up to but not exceeding 180 degrees F) and prevents the solution from cooling. Here's how the engine works: A plastic bottle for filling with Bissell's Fiber Cleansing Formula (not included) fits of laughter into the base. A removable 1-gallon tank contains a bladder to hold clean the best quality for mixing with the cleansing concentrate. (Dirty water vacuumed by the machine collects around the bladder.) A dial offers three settings for diversified tasks: water-only, normal, and high traffic. A trigger on the machine's handle applies discovery as desired. A flow-indicator spins when solution is applied and stops if the tank requests refilling. There's a switch for applying solution through the tools: tough-stain brush, upholstery implement, bare-floor head, crevice tool, pretreat wand. (The machine does not rouse solution for tools.) The machine's 12-inch floating brush-roll on impulse adjusts for carpet heights. Safe for virtually all carpets and upholstery fabrics, the past comprehension-cleaning method can be turned off for dry-vacuuming delicate wool and Oriental rugs. The prime mover quickly assembles in five steps, using two bolts and nuts and two Phillips-head screws (all included). An mainly understandable assembly/instruction booklet accompanies the machine, which carries a 1-year agreement against defects. --Fred Brack

Cleans tremendous . . . but quits spraying on third use
This instrument worked very nice the first two times I used it. Then, like so many other customers, my unit quit spaying. Effective enough, I took mine apart like those before me, and the heater was plugged up with lime and calcium. Terrible scheme flaw. Rather than attempting to fix it, I bypassed the heater with a piece of my own tubing. It works great now, minus the "super-hot" water. If you buy this, use ONLY distilled water in the one gallon tank. The manufacturer should have thought of this. One nice fetich I will say about the 1699. . . it IS powerful and picks up a lot of deep down dirt.

Bissell 1699-C Steam Cleaner No Tell the world
As a few others have mentioned, when this constituent is working, it works well. We have had this unit for about 2 years now. Have used it twice. No problems until the other day - no spray from the nozzles at the surprise level when pulling the trigger - but the hand tool spray was working. The heater (positioned behind the on/off switch - 4 screws & 2 bolts/nuts) was plugged. I dug out the crap at the inlet seaport with a small nail & blew air until it flowed out the outlet port. Hooked it back up & now it's working well. I'm fluctuating to use the heater though for fear of it clogging again, but at least I know what to do.

Marvellous Features. Cheap Manufacturing.
I bought this apparatus because I have always owned Bissell products. I started to clean my carpets with it and it stopped dispensing the cleaner after about 30 minutes of use. I called Bissell who sent me a new point, and that one never worked at all. I took the machine back to retailer and will not buy another Bissell again. Bissell wanted to keep sending me parts rather than have me take back my machine, low service. Also, I had to keep filling the bladder with water, it would use a ton of water on a very small amount of carpet.

Around 10 Years Old and Contemporary Strong!
I bought this vacuum about ten years ago and have never had a moments mess with it. I change the bags and clean the rotating brush of any string, hair or fuzz regularly. I had a salesman separate to my door to show me his expensive $2600 vaccum and he had trouble proving his vaccum over mine. His was also 12 amp and made honest as much noise. He had trouble finding any problem with my vacuum. He left without a sale. I feel I made a very A-OK choice with this vacuum. It is a little noisy but for the price, quality and power its not a problem for me. Also, if you don't swop the bags and clean off the rotating brush regulary any vacuum will stop working even the most up-market ones.

Bonzer cleaning ability but much noisier than a cannister - caught fire two years later!
I bought this vacuum in Pace 2002 in an attempt to find the best of both worlds - my husband prefers an upright, I prefer a cannister. The vacuum does an prime job in cleaning. I especially appreciate the filtration of the bags and the filter. The air in the house does not fetidness or feel dusty after vacuuming as it did with all of our other vacuums and the house stays cleaner longer. This vacuum is hellishly noisy compared to my old Eureka cannister. My husband says it is quieter than most uprights and that I find it deafening because I'm used to a cannister model. With an upright, the motor is in front of me, so I hear the roar all the time. With the cannister, the motor was several feet behind me when I cleaned. Even in Terminate Off mode, the loud motor is always next to me. My compromise is to wear those foam ear plugs to buffer the inquire while cleaning. I am not able to vaccum underneath the furniture as well with this Lift Off model because it has a higher profile than the powerhead on my old cannister. Entire we are happy with our purchase and feel that this is a good value. Would I buy this model again? Probably not. When this one wears out I'll look for a cannister copy with the filtrete clean air technology (or similar).
***update***
This vacuum cleaner caught fire and started spewing smoke after 2 1/2 years of use. I would have needed to pay for the shipping to have it repaired under the pledge. The shipping costs were almost as much as the vacuum. We threw it out and bought a Miele. What a difference!

Positively the best vacuum on the market.
I liked my first cannister/upstanding Bissel vacuum so much that I purchased a second one. This is the best vacuum, for the home, on the market. Have the courage of one's convictions pretend me, I have tried them all. The bags are expensive but the vacuum is so good that I tolerate the price of the bags, with an increment of the cost of the vacuum is very inexpensive considering the quality. A very nice feature is the long rope. You can plug it in and vacuum several rooms without having to unplug, then plug in again. It is a quiet vacuum, has wonderful suction, snaps by oneself easily for the cannister so you can vacuum the stairs, and is very durable. My older one is about ten years old and just as honest as the day I got it. My second one is one year old and I am sure it will last many years.

Heather says:
Let’s get the authorized vernacular out of the way, in accordance with FTC instructions I am noting that I received two Bissell PRO Lite Multi Cyclonic Vacuums. One vacuum was acknowledged for cavalcade purposes and the b is a spin-off to be preordained to a different place in the confute on this time. The reassess vacuum will be meticulously cleaned and donated either to My Sister’s Concert-hall or to a relations through my religious’s eats pantry. I’d like to in consequence of Bissell for the chance to con their upshot and out of date it along to someone in lack.
Wake up, it’s at all times for the consideration.
First sentiment that impressed me about the PRO Lite vacuum is the truth that it has a predetermined five year agreement. If I’m universal to pay for something I desperate straits to conscious that it’s not prevalent to crap out perfect to another place. I indigence all of you to comprehend that I ruined all of my geek cred* and took the measure to be familiar with the directions, straight for you. I scholarly about the commitment and it covers home use, this means if you’re direction a tidiness function the covenant does not affix. The covenant openly doesn’t shroud those parts that should be replaced from at all times to on one occasion on any vacuum – fans, filters, food-processor bar / touch disregard, hoses, or belts. Also, for eminence fulfilment you have to unstained and refund those parts as needed. There are total directions in the vade-mecum which is convenient as a pdf . Orderly.

The hose snapped into lay and I was ripe to wad. Whee.
There are several things I at bottom like about this vacuum. First as I have hardwood I definitely like that the wheels are rubber, they won’t unpremeditated the lower limit even after they have suffered endure and claw. Courteous.

Dyson vs Bissell vs Hoover pet vacuums for a husky owner?
Q: I would affection a Dyson pet vac but can't afford $500. I know Bissell and Hoover have pet vac's too but are either of them as good? Or maybe unusually good? I thought I heard Bissell's was decent. I have a baby who will be crawling directly and a siberian husky that sheds A LOT and need a really good bagless vacuum for the rug and tile floors...... Which one would you recommend?
A: i would go with the hoover. I find its heartier quality than bissel.
How can I remove stale water smell in a Bissell vacuum?
Q: I have a Bissell vacuum with the removable canister for clear disposal.
I was vacuuming on the basement floor one day, not realizing a rug was wet from an over-flow from the air conditioner.
Anyway, it didn't wound the sweeper, but it now stinks every time I use it.I have thoroughly washed the canister and the filters, but it still reeks.
Any suggestions how I can deliquesce that smell?
A: I soaked my shampooer cavity outside with bleach one time to get rid of the smell from mine when I put it away with out dumping on accessary got side tracked with kids and somebody else put it away for me actually without dumping.Next but I used it it stunk so I soaked it in the hot water with lots of bleach exterior on porch for a day.Got rid of smell.
Should I extend the warranty of my Bissell vacuum cleaner?
Q: My spread-out warranty for Bissell vacuum is going to expiry next month, should I extend my assurance? 2 years warranty cost $51.29.
I have been having the vacuum for 4 years and so far have been sustained very well. During the warranty, I have taken my vacuum three times. 1st time they gave me a new adjunct because the old one didn’t work properly. 2nd time they changed my filter. And the 3rd mores they changed the inside filter, cleaned the outside filter, regular the motor, and changed the belt. Thanks
A: no. never should've gotten one in the 1st role.
