worst dishwasher ever
- soap slot machine never opens during cycle
- worst customer service ever. We had the repair guy come at least 5 times in 6 months to fix the soap slot machine. He never ordered the part (I had to order it eventually), never managed to fix it. We gave up. Now we set the timer and manually open the machine during the cycle.
- very poor design. Doesn't fit dishes well, separators collapse when you don't want them to
- circle takes 1.5 hours to complete (shorter cycle doesn't clean plates)
- half the time the dishes are still dirty, either with dried-on grit, or greasy film

Commendable apartment dishwasher
I've been using this dishwasher for 5 months now so I'm seeing the pros and cons of this suitable dishwasher. I had a Danby countertop dishwasher before and that was such a nightmare to use. The countertop dishwasher always left the dishes sullied.
Pros
- clean dishes (using the economy cycle)even if you dont pre-rinse
- reliable size for 2 person family, load dishes every two days
- small & compact complete for apartments, can be rolled around
- quickly adapts to the sink
- I'm just using a natural dishwasher cleaner and don't have any problems with lime buildup, dishes come out clean.
Cons
- the metal racks are starting to rust in several spots
- Some of the dirtier pots requirements to be scrubbed a bit first
- since it's a small dishwasher, have to check the top sprayers are not blocked by any big dishes
Notes
I had to use plumber's tape to ward the faucet from leaking when installing the water adaptor. Overall I love using this dishwasher, saves me so much period.

This dishwasher is Astounding!
I Sweetie this dishwasher! I was prepared to lose a little washing power because it's a portable, but that simply isn't the casing. I bought this unit based on the online reviews and I'm 100% satisfied with this exceptional output. It rolls over to my sink with almost no effort at all, hooks up to the sink in seconds, and gets my dishes dry-clean every single time. It must be well insulated because it's a lot quieter than the Kenmore Elite built-in dishwasher I had in my preceding home! The stainless steel interior is great too, it doesn't stain or scratch and always looks enormous. When I'm done using it as a dishwasher, I roll it back over to the end of my counter and voila! I have much needed extra counter seat! If you are looking for a portable, this is the one you want!

Find something healthier
It cleans the dishware well and doesn't leak.
When it arrived, there was a small dent on the side. Not a big deal. After nine months, the wheel up against it off -- it's a cheap plastic snap-together wheel. We snap it back together and now it comes apart every nonetheless we wheel it over to the sink to use. We only use the device once or twice a week -- it's not like we were rolling it around every day for nine months. The bond covers mechanical parts, and I'm not sure if they'll cover the wheel. I'll update this if they do. Very disappointing. And yes, the connecting hoses are bargain-priced. If it weren't for the broken wheel, I'd give it four stars.

Don't Squander Your Money on Danby
My Danby 1805 18" vest-pocket dishwasher is less than 3 years old. Timer Cam no longer will advance. Contacted the Danby company. Turns out they've misused the design of the front door panel controls and no longer produce, nor have in stock, the original timer cam that I lack. Their new door panel/controls design isn't compatible with my model. $359 wasted. A new Danby dishwasher payout $400 at Walmart. Danby won't give me a "rebate" towards the purchase of a new Danby dishwasher, no price adjustment, nothing. Basically they told me I'm unprejudiced plain out of luck. I'm not the only person with this same problem (faulty timer cam). DO NOT BUY DANBY.

Danby's search for upswing lacks foresight.
Living in a diminutive apartment in NYC this product is a godsend. However, we wish Danby's design department think things through.
This is our third epoch of Danby dishwashers. The first one had problems with the window leaking after a year, and the soap dispenser and door broke.
The support generation Danby improved the soap dispenser problem and created a well for the soap to be placed in, plus, the bed-cover arm was built beefier and worked nicely. But the rack was a disaster. Less material made in the rack produced too many major spaces for small things to fall through. This dishwasher was sensitive to the amount of soap you used and care for to foam up quite often. This window did eventually come out on us as well and we glued it back in and all was fine until the timer went and our dishwasher was leaning to flood from the feed water not stopping.
Alas it was time for the third generation.
1. The delivery was foolproof, the packaging perfect.
2. The spray arm is terrific.
3. The rack, still much to be desired. I think Danby should go back to the old one, customers will prove of this one. (We kept the rack from the first one)
4. The mechanical timer has been replaced with an electronic one which is great except the programs are many, P1,P2,P3,P4,P5. Which is tangled enough but the dishwasher does not let us know how much time we have left, what the cycles mean, go to your manual those and make a copy, take a magnet and viola! With all the digital wonders out there another read out would be nice because the size of time on the programs has been extended and we find ourselves waiting for that final beep. The most annoying thing about this is the span of time between the final wash cycle and the when the water drains out of the basin. This is a concern for us as we like to activate the door to air-dry the dishes and shut off the power.
What we like is that the dishes do come out nice and dust.
And on a small note this dishwasher is not the silent type, yet nothing we can't handle.
Danby, this is great product for residents with limited space and small sinks, and busy lives.

Edgestar Is an but answer to the small household dishwasher
I have had this produce for 2 years. My son and I enjoy this appliance and its convienence. We run it every other day during the week and three times a day on the weekends. It holds a Caraffe from our Mr coffee Tea maker and all the odd utensils we use. For in point of fact small items I use a baby bottle lid and nipple plastic cage. Some small shapable cups flip over during a wash cycle, I am looking at creating a net of some kind for light moment dishes. I have noted that it does not have a liquid detergent dispenser. We fixed that challenge. My son put a flat spice lid in the bottom of the washer and filled it with detergent. The lid holds about one ounce of liquid as the washer goes through the prime pump cycle. Then as the water is pumped in it mixes with the water and cleans the dishes. I have it on a bar next to the sink. Easy to plug in and use. No leaks. I have been toying with the Idea of permanently hooking it up to the water and trench plumbing. Got a few Ideas, will let you know how it works out. cannot say enough good things about this appliance. Sold the full evaluate dishwasher a week after this one arrived.
To Clean the dishwasher I run an empty cycle with a bowl filled with 1/2 cup of lighten, loaded upright in the large dish area, once every other week. More often if we run it more than usual like during the holidays.

Skint in less than a year/Very long cleaning cycle
We were very saddened when our EdgeStar Countertop Dishwasher broke in less than a year. When I called the company, they were aware of a electrical/commingle problem that causes an error message 30 minutes into the regular cleaning rotate. If you turn the machine off and on immediately, the machine will run a normal cycle. However, the 30 minute restart must is very inconvenient and brings the total wash time to 2.5 hours! EdgeStar told me the the shape is not intended to be run every day, which in my opinion is a basic requirement of a dishwasher. The limited warranty covered a replacement combine, but not repair, service, or labor. In short, they promptly sent me a replacement wire/flow that needs to be installed by a professional (since it would involve taking apart the unit). The section is too heavy to take to a repair shop, and the price of a home visit and repair exeeds the payment of the unit. So, we work the 2.5 hour cleaning cycle into our schedule. With this lack of importance, we don't expect the machine to continue running for too long in the future. We certainly wouldn't buy an EdgeStar entity again.

Celebrated Dishwasher I Put to the Test
I wanted to set a review especially after reading some of the misinformation being spread about this machine. I've had it nearly a year now and am very satisfied with its performance. At first I was equally unhappy with the long wash cycle, but there are optional choices many manifest to have not attempted. The "3" choice is the 50 minute cycle and highly recommended. The others are helpfully far too long.
This machine is awesome and has saved me loads of time washing my own dishes I've done for many years. It decently sanitizes and most always gets dishes clean unless you don't properly prep them. For instance, don't foresee dried food to get clean. It may indeed come off, but it's important to wash off most dishes as is necessary with larger machines.
This make is a winner. If you have low water pressure, that's not this machine's fault. If you expect this washer to preheat water, you're asking for too much. All you dire to do is run the water prior to starting the washer to ensure hot water will run through immediately. This washer does have a oven, primarily to dry dishes for the longer wash settings.
It's true on the "3" setting, which is 50 minutes the saucers have water on them after the wash. You can simply leave them to dry a few hours and open the washer a crack. Or, you can wrest money from off the water and set them out to dry a few minutes.
I don't know what people expect for a countertop dishwasher, but some here are a little too depreciatory. This washer is awesome and I'd give it 10 stars if I could. It's saved me an enormous amount of time and water tradition as well. It only uses 3 gallons of water.

unfit to use due to "low water pressure"
I lasted 3 years without a dishwasher but it was driving me nuts. Our kitchenette is tiny so we got this EdgeStar countertop dishwasher. We might have got the Danby but it's only available in white and all our kitchen is black/gleaming so we got the EdgeStar.
Had to go to the store to get an adapter to make this work with my type of faucet... no big extent. Plugged it in and it will work for up to ten minutes before shutting off and noting "E1", error message 1 "attractive too long to fill up with water" which is likely a water pressure issue.
I don't have any method to change the inundate pressure in my home so must return.

This countertop dishwasher has issues
I have had this dishwasher for a month, and it does an okay job of washing serving dishes. But it has issues:
1) The normal wash cycle is 2 hours. The speedy one is 70 min.
2) The rack is thoroughly specialized for a certain arraignment of dishes. It has large holes in the bottom rack, and you have to be creative in your serving dish an pan arraignment or things will fall through the rack.
3) In spite of all the time it takes to wash the tableware, they come out covered in water. I have to either let them dry in the dishwasher overnight or dry them by hand. My previous countertop dishwasher was a Danby. After a sequence I would open the door and the dishes were so warm they steam dryed in a few minutes.
4) There is no setting for the dishwasher to preheat the wet.

Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | What Are the Best Countertop or ...
I've been researching this at home (I'm hoping to get one of these soon!) and as far as I can tell, they're more efficient than doing dishes by hand, both timewise and environmentally, but I don't know about efficiency of the small ones vs the large ones.
I do know that you can get a little countertop dishwasher that is Energy Star compliant, which is nice. I haven't bought one yet, though, so I couldn't tell you if I like a particular one. I've just been reading reviews like crazy.
I had a Danby portable dishwasher until I moved to a place with a built-in, and it was fantastic. It cleaned the dishes better than many normal dishwashers I've seen, and you could use the top for additional counter space. It hooks right into your sink -- just make sure you have a "normal" sink that is compatible. Only issue is that it was pretty pricy -- I think I paid close to 400 dollars for it, but if you can find a deal or find it used, I highly recommend. I'm guessing Danby's countertop model is also good, based on the quality of the portable model (DDW1805) that I owned. Here's a link: http://www.danby.com/product/DDW1805W/11
I have a Compact Appliance dishwasher, which I recommend highly. It uses probably 2 to 3 gallons of water per load, certainly less than I would use hand-washing, though I don't know how that compares to larger dishwashers.
(My washer is about 18 months old and working well. The first one I was sent had pump problems, so I had to return it for a free repair/replacement. Compact Appliance also paid for all shipping, all after one brief call to customer service.)
We had this Danby model: http://www.danby.com/product/DDW497W/11
I say "had" because it lasted for six months. The first one we ordered arrived horribly dented, and the second was also dented, but less so and we just took the 10% discount rather than bother with shipping the whole thing again. It didn't clean dishes well at all and almost nothing fit in it, so we ended up doing half our dishes by hand anyway. Finally (after six months, like I said) it stopped working, and I couldn't reach Danby to save my life--I'd be on hold with their help line for up to half an hour no matter when I called and no human in sight. We finally just threw it out and were out the $250. I wouldn't buy anything from Danby again.

This machine is small, but big enough to comfortably accommodate my household of two (and could handle a third). Cleans dishes as well as if done by hand in almost all cases. Could be quieter but isn't overly loud (after not having a dishwasher at all, it's hard to judge). It was very easy to install (small enough to fit in back of my Volvo and light enough to lift out by myself) as well as simple to hook up. I have had no problems after 18 months of use. I love it!
Ihave an 18 inch Danby dishwasher, that was installed with a remodel of my kitchen in November of 2006.
For the second time in a little over 3 months I have had to replace the switch on the door. If this continues I am going to have to either replace the dishwasher or start washing the dishes by hand. I am quite unhappy because I paid a lot of money for the remodel job. I would lilke to know if this is a problem with this model dishwasher. I kind of feel lilke it might be after talking to the repairman.

Danby DDW1805W – Portable Dishwasher for Small Spaces
May be just the thing. The compact model is just 18 inches wide, and rolls away on built-in casters when not in use. The unit offers a handy solution for condos, apartments, and small living spaces.
Danby has been a provider of high-quality appliances for 50 years, and their inclusion of significant features in a portable dishwasher – like a built-in soft water system for remote locations, an 8 place setting capacity, and a large lower dish rack that supports 11-inch plates – is the mark of an innovative company that serves their customers well.
This unit is also eco-conscious, being Energy Star compliant with low water consumption at normal programs and a quiet 55db operating volume. The portable hose connects to a standard kitchen faucet and even has a rinse aid indicator light that signals the need for a refill.

A Danby countertop dishwasher that is NOT filling with water; anyone know why and how to fix, please?
Q: It was given to me used, model is up to 10 years old and inside the door is a small indentation for the soap dispensing.
The cupling and hoses are fine.
Yep, tried different settings and the water (tried hot and cold too) is always on before I turn it on. Taken rack out and tried. Released the pressure valve inside too. grrrrr I hate doing dishes by hand.
A: Most likely your fill valve is not working.
If you know where it is located, you can try to unplug the power supply to it and then reinstall the supply.
DISCONNECT the power supply from the wall first though.
I have had this happen on several under counter units.
Also, if it has a float inside, under the bottom rack, in the front left or right corner, there could be something lodged under it keeping the power from getting to the fill valve.
If you can do this and nothing happens, the valve could be bad.
The next problem could be your timer.
Danby Counter Top Dishwasher is making a sqealing noise.?
Q: The Danby Counter Top Dishwasher seems to be working fine in that it fills up and washes and drains but; after it starts to wash a squealing noise starts. I tried taking out the dishes, the dish rack, and the spinner inside but the noise is still there. It seems to be coming from the back side at the top?
Anyone have any ideas?
A: I would contact the manufacturers to ask about it. This link may lead you to help.
Danby countertop dishwasher DDW496W is causing a whistling noise?
Q: My Danby countertop dishwasher DDW496W is causing a whistling noise when water is pumped into or draining out of the washer. Can someone tell me what is causing it and what can be done to stop it?? I really like the washer. it does a fantastic job
A: Did you order the show tunes or classical option? Check all the lines for any kinks or restrictions. It sounds like the pump motor may have something blocking the air flow to cool itself. This may mean being able to closely observe the motor in operation to tell just what is causing the whistling. A stray tag or a combination of electrical wiring in that area may be to blame.
