In Need of a Trivet or Hot Pad - Conair Instant Heat Curling Iron ...I don't know what it is about curling irons, but they just don't seem to last. I seem to buy a new one at least every few years, if not more often. Because of that, I resist spending a lot of money on new ones, as I could spend double or triple the money, but it doesn't mean they're going to last any longer. This time I went with the Conair Instant Heat Curling Iron, and truth be told, I think I've used it before, but it wasn't my last one, so it didn't make me rush out and buy it again the next time, so that tells you something. Using it this time, I find that it heats up really well. We all know what the danger is of curling irons that heat up really hot and fast, but after nearly thirty years of curling iron use, I feel like my neck should be immune to that. Besides, with these curling irons with multiple settings via dial, I just always go to the highest one anyway. There's also an added option for Turbo Heat, but I haven't found where that made a lick of difference to use it, although it's supposed to "lock in" the curl. This is just your basic curling iron. Again, there is nothing that stands out about it, but there is something I'm noting using it this time that is making me not want to buy it the next time. I can't get it to stand on my dresser without tipping over. That means it's burning my dresser. I try swiveling and rotating the cord, and that helps a little until I pick it up and use it and put it back down again, then it's right back to burning my dresser. I'm going to need a trivet or hot pad for my dresser. Or maybe I just need to wait until the cord starts to get so twisted it doesn't swivel well. This flat iron does not heat up enough to meet my straightening needs, so obviously I need a hotter flat iron. A: I totally dumped my conair because it didn't work that well, neither did my vidal sasoon. I have no idea how hot it gets but I love my remington wet2straight flat iron. It has 15 or 20 different heat settings and gets really hot in 60 seconds. I only use it up to the 10 setting and that is definitely hot enough for my hair. I had to set it to max on my conair and still go over it a few times. Anyone tried the new conair steam straightening iron? I've tried tons of irons with no luck.?Q: Ive tried every expensive straightening iron out there (CHI, Sedu, GHD, etc.), all of them make my hair dry and it breaks off. Whenever I straighten my hair with them, it looks very unhealthy, frizzy, and just gross. I really don't like my curly hair, I've even chemically straightened it a few times. I don't want to do that anymore though, because it's unhealthy for your hair. I can't do many styles with my curly hair either..I just hate it. So, how is the chi compared to other irons?
