whirlpool side by side problem - Appliance Repair ForumThe refrig. automatically defrost itself every 6-12 hrs., depending on model and timer installed. The first thing I would check is the drain tube that carries the defrost water out during the defrost cycle. It could very well be plugged. That will allow ice build up in the bottom and will eventually restrict the air circulation. Make sure you get all the ice and other debris out of the tube. you will probably have to pull it out from wall and take back cover off. You will see where it comes out of the freezer drain pan thru to pan underneathn the refrig. some pf them have a trap installed that can be removed and cleaned, but not all of them. If you investigate, you will find it. Sometimes,just pouring hot water into the drain pan under the coil in the freezer will unplug the drain hose,but it has to be fully defrosted to get the water to flow thru it. Hope it helps.--Brad my drain plug is not stopped up. still dont have a clue. i can help you with ur question about the defrost timer though. it is located in the fridge side behind the temperature controls. only a couple screws hold it in place. its plastic and see-through. you can see gears in it. but b4 u take it apart, u can manually check 2 c if its workn by getting a flathead screwdriver and turnin the timer slowly clockwise until u hear it click. wait about 35 minutes and it should kick on. if it dont, theres ur problem Source: whirlpool side by side problem - Appliance Repair Forum
Clicking noise when Frig door is opened - Appliance Repair ForumI have a Whilrpool Conquest Gold seriese side by side frig Model #: GS6SHEXNL00. It started to make clicking noise from the back/bottom of the frig when I open the frig side. All 3 light stopped working on the frig side but the freezer side lights are working fine. I replaced one of the light bulbs but that did not help. When I remove all three frig bulbs, the clicking noise stops. I tested all the bulbs and all are good. So now I have a dark frig which otherwise is working normal. I opended up the frig back side and the only thing I see that I can replace is the circuit board for $73. I see that there are 3 non-removalable 24v transformers on the board, I think one of them is bad. Any adivce... A: the i/m module is common to fail. it has 3 phillips screws holding it to the i/m housing. before you go out and buy one take the entire i/m out of the freezer section and see if the metal mold that forms the cubes has a peeling coating. it may be black or a greenish color, both of them will peel off and cause the unit to not cycle properly. |
