Haseena Atom Bomb (1990) « MemsaabStory

But. Or should that be Butt. As Todd wisely points out in his brilliant review , this film clearly supports the argument that “sleaze is an unavoidable byproduct of puritanism.” It is sleazy. Garishly, unrepentantly, cartoonishly sleazy. Still, it was popular enough in Pakistan to be dubbed from the original Pashto into Urdu and distributed in mainstream theaters (at least that’s my impression from reading about it). So I worry: what do people who enjoy this type of film get out of it? Even not taken seriously (can it be taken seriously?), it sends a whole lot of iffy messages. Or do they watch it only once in the same pruriently curious vein that I did, thinking . The little girl was rescued from that fate by an older, kindly man who purchased her from the goons.

Back in the present, our florid hero wishes Haseena a happy wedding day (there’s nothing like a little light reminiscing between strangers!) and they go their separate ways. He looks to me like a cross between Charles Bronson and Kris Kristofferson, and I decide to call him Chuckles.

But Haseena is not safe for long. These same lip-smacking own-chest-caressing guys show up on her wedding night—and this time they prevail, raping her (for a really long time) in front of her husband. Then, they string him up on a rope, forcing an exhausted Haseena to support his body weight to prevent him from hanging. Weeping, she finally buckles and he dies. Too late she is joined by some guy who shouts angrily at the camera while she sniffles and hugs her dangling husband’s feet.

Incidentally, much of the film is framed in this way—I am not sure if it is the editing for DVD or what, but the actors are confined to the edges of the screen and cut in half while a big empty space occupies the center. We won’t even discuss the electric blue OK CD 7223382 which takes up much of the real estate.

what is the average amount of money for a reliable sewing machine?

Q: i am 15 years old and my moms old sewing machine broke and i need a new one asap i dont have alot of money and i have to buy it with my own money. i need a reliable sewing machine but i am not sure what the average amount of money would be. i saw machines for about $200 but my mom told me that it wouldn't last long. please if someone knows anything that could help me i would greatly appriciate it. <3 thank you

A: I'm a sewing machine technician and will tell you DO NOT get a cheap plastic machine from Wal-Mart or wherever. If your used to using your moms machine then find a repair person and have it fixed. The old machines are the best. Or look in thrift stores or yard sales and find an old one for cheap. If you turn the handle and the needle goes up and down and try the motor and it works then spend a little more and have the repair guy service it (yellow pages). Clean, oil, and adjust. I'm sure you can do all this for under 200 dollars. The old all metal heavy machines with just basic stitch patterns are all you need and they will last you forever. I find old machines all the time for 25 to 50.00 . Then just have it serviced. Good luck to you.

What are the best simple sewing machines available ?

Q: My wife is a very good seemstress, but she does not have a good reliable sewing machine. She wants a machine that is
is very simple, very reliable, and of good quality. Any suggestions ?

A: I'm going against popular opinion and would recommend a Husqvana....go to a sewing machine store and look at the different brands and models and get a good one (the cheapest good one you can find). Husqvana is very reliable and as far as I know Singer machines are not even made by Singer anymore and haven't been for a long time...another company bought the rights to the name. I would suggest taking your wife with you to choose one since she is the one who knows what she is looking for.

Is Elna a good and reliable brand for their sewing machines?

Q: I am considering to upgrade my sewing machine to a computerised one and the best support in my country seems to be Elna's.

A: Elna is pretty good, it is not made in Switzerland anymore, the mid range machines are nice and fun to use. Sometimes, where you buy the machine will benefit you. If the store selling the machine is a nice place to shop, and the staff are friendly and willing to help you with lessons and support, that sometimes is more important than the brand you buy. Tell the staff what you want in a machine, and if you dont know, tell them your interests- why you want to buy a new machine. If they are knowledgeable, they will pick the right machine for you, these days- there are no 'better brands' only the one best for the person using it. Look around though, but try not to stress out about it and ask for a demonstration if that makes you more comfortable with the decision. Good Luck Hey!
