Do KitchenAid ice cream maker attachments work for all brands of stand mixers?
Q: If I bought a KitchenAid ice cream maker attachment for a stand mixer, would it work with a Viking mixer? And if not, does Viking make ice cream maker attachments? Also, what are the best attachments for Viking (and all) stand mixers?
A: Don't know for sure since I don't have the specs.
However, I would assume attachments are NOT interchangeable.
Viking vs. Kitchenaid stand mixer?
Q: Hey Everyone, I've had my heart set on a good stand mixer for years and I'm treating myself to one (finally!).
I did a bit of online review searching and found the Viking mixer (which I think is gorge in white) beats the Kitchenaid hands down. It's a bit pricier, but I think it'll be worth it.
Thoughts?
A: Hi Anton,
I do not wish to discourage you from purchasing a Viking stand mixer and I realize you have done some research online ...but
a Viking mixer is over twice the cost of a 5 quart Kitchenaid and although it is possible to get a "lemon" from either company (any company), let me share my experience.
I bake frequently, both at home and at my restaurant. It really is one of my favorite things to do. I own several mixers, thank goodness!
A Hobart machine was used at the restaurant for many years. When it finally needed to be replaced, I bought a KitchenAid. In fact, I bought two 5 quart KitchenAids. They are used every day, several times a day, for a variety of tasks. After four years they are still working fine.
I have another 5 quart KitchenAid at home. I use it for a variety of jobs including kneading dough for bread and cookies (with my grand daughter's "help"). So far I haven't had any problems with the machine.
I have tried a Viking, as well. It was much noisier than any other mixer I have personally used. I would have expected a better overall performance from the Viking ($525 USD) than from the Kitchenaid ($200 USD). Not true.
Think seriously about the KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Series 5-Quart. It is a new series by KitchenAid.
(PS - I do not benefit in any way from recommending one over the other. I am not a "rep" for Kitchenaid.)
Good "hunting," Anton
Which stand mixer should I buy?
Q: Ok, I've always wanted a KitchenAid stand mixer, and I was finally going to break down and buy one, but I was checking out the reviews online, and it seems that the KitchenAid mixers, which used to be manufactured by Hobart, are now under the 'Whirlpool' name, and there has been some trouble with plastic parts and oil leaking.
These are the two I was considering:

So now I'm also looking at the Viking and Cuisinart as well.

Anyone who has any info, I'd love to hear some opinions! I want one that isn't going to break down on me after a few uses. Oh, and I'm looking at using this mainly for baking, if that factors in.
I know that the 'older' KitchenAid of even a few years ago are great, and that's what I wanted, evidently this is a 'newer' phenomenon, since they've been taken over by Whirlpool and it appears that they're working on fixing it, but I don't want to just 'hope' I get a good one. If anyone knows that they've actually fixed the problem, that would be helpful. Thanks for the answers so far!
Wow, ok, after an overwhelming vote, I guess I'll take my chances and hope that KitchenAid has fixed whatever issues they were having. I think I'm going to go with the Artisan. Thanks so much to everyone who answered and especially to all of my contacts who weighed in on this one, advice from people I respect is truly appreciated!
Oh, and to the Fox, you're in the same boat as me! I have two houses full of stuff, but no stand mixer! If you have an extra KitchenAid floating around, let me know and I'll buy it from you, lol! Good to know I'm not the only one with entirely too much 'stuff'. When I moved last month, it was from a 3600 sq. ft. house into a 1400 sq. ft townhome, both of which are furnished, so not I'm doing some super-organizing and condensing of my 'stuff'.
My point is, I absolutely should NOT be buying myself a present, but heck.... I wanna!
A: Definitely Kitchen Aid...they still have ones that are all metal with no plastic parts. My kitchen only consists of kitchen aid and cuisinart. I find that kitchen aid is the best for everything except anything to do with coffee or tea (for those we only have cuisinart). I suggest going to department stores and looking for older models of the Kitchen Aid mixers...just my opinion...
